If you’re reading this, chances are, you are thinking about embarking on a boudoir photoshoot- which even for the most confident woman, can be somewhat intimidating. When talking to women, I get asked all sorts of questions, so I’ve compiled a list of everything you might wanna know about a boudoir shoot, to give you insights on what it’s all about and how to best prepare for your session.

1. What is a Boudoir photoshoot, anyway?

   Boudoir photography is an intimate and empowering genre of photography that captures one in a sensual and artistic manner. It celebrates the one’s confidence, beauty, and individuality. It’s a photography style that features intimate, sensual, and romantic images of women, men and/or couples, typically in a bedroom or private setting.

2. Why do people do boudoir shoots?

   There’s lots of reasons one can book a boudoir session: It could be for an elegant, unique and intimate gift for a partner. Many people gift it for weddings, anniversaries and all sorts of special occasions. People book boudoir shoots for personal empowerment to celebrate one’s body and to boost self-confidence and self-love. Milestones and significant life events, like fitness achievements, birthdays, maternity Mother’s Day.
   

3. What’s included in a session?

   Our Boudoir sessions include a personalized two hour photoshoot, romantic indoor and outdoor garden sets, access to our luxury client closet and expert posing guidance - no modeling experience needed! We also offer makeup services that you can add on to your session as well.

4. Do you share my images?

   When it comes to images, I always ask for permission, in the form of an image release, before I post anything. If you don’t love an image, I don’t post it; simple.  Images are sometimes used on my own site, Facebook group, or blog, but at the end of the day — my goal is to make sure my clients feel comfortable about sharing their photographs. 

5. Do I have to wear Lingerie?

   No! “Boudoir” is a sensual state of mind, not an outfit. For some women, they feel sexy in a long bohemian dress with beach waves hair. A lacey bodysuite or a simple white shirt and undies. Or perhaps it’s a set of Marylin Monroe-inspired white sheets and nothing else. We go as modest or spicy as you're comfortable with. Whatever your theme or goal, we will work with you to come up with a creative plan.
   
   For many, the classic lingerie set, fishnet stockings, and garter belts are the wardrobe that makes them feel feminine.  We will style your wardrobe in whatever makes you feel uniquely sexy. Discovering what you love about yourself is half the fun! We’ll discuss that in your initial consultation and right before your shoot.
   
   We offer a variety of romantic indoor sets as well as a totally private outdoor, majestic garden filled with luscious trees and a tranquil wellspring pond.  We’ll capture your beauty in lingerie or whatever fits your aesthetic and dream shoot vision. Best of all, you have a wide variety of lingerie, corsets, robes, jewelry, masks, and accessories available to you in the Client Closet!

6. Do you offer payment plans?

   Yes. The transformational experience of a boudoir shoot should be accessible to all. This is an investment in YOURSELF and we take pride in providing you with a service and payment options to fit your needs. This is why we offer our popular “Boudoir Jar” a pre-session payment plans that earns you bonuses. Prefer to see your images first? We also offer post-session payment plans and highly recommend applying for PayPal Credit which enables you to purchase your collection and pay it off for six months, no interest. During your viewing and ordering session, we will work together to decide which collection and payment options work best for your budget. 

7. Do you offer hair and make-up services?

   At Lins Photo Studio, we do highly recommend you add professional hair and makeup services, priced at $175. The goal of the photoshoot hair and makeup is to enhance your natural beauty and boost your confidence for the camera.
   Already have someone you love working with for hair and/or makeup? Feel free to do your hair & makeup elsewhere and get to the studio ready for the photoshoot. We have a fully furnished makeup suite and offer the services a la carte, as well.

8. Do you retouch my pictures?

   In a word, yes. To create artfully done images, we retouch to ensure lighting, exposure, and color balance are perfect in every single shot. As far as corrective retouching, our philosophy is minimalistic.
   We edit skin tone, blemishes, bruises, a bra strap that’s digging into your skin. We’re not trying to change your size, only smooth outlines to avoid visual distractions. Ultimately, it is up to you what you love the most about your body and we then decide that together when reviewing your images, what you’d like to tweak.

9. Where should I buy my outfits?

   We recommend several boudoir-friendly lingerie retailers like, Honey Birdette, Victoria’s Secret, Adore Me, Frederick’s of Hollywood, Lovehoney, Hustler of Hollywood, Yandy, and Amazon to name a few.
   We also offer a closet full of lingerie, many from Victoria’s Secret, Intimissimmi, and many more, for you to choose from. The studio also features tons of fun accessories like Pink angel wings, Hollywood glam robe, body jewelry, corsets, crowns, masquerade masks, feathers, flowers, and more.

10. What type of print products do you have?

    We offer a variety of luxury leather albums, mounted prints, canvases, and fun items, like an old-school “Peep Show” Viewfinder.

11. Do you offer digitals?

    Every printed packages come with its corresponding digitals, but we also offer digital-only packages in addition to our regular collections, for those who prefer not to have a physical copy. Digital images will be available for you on a secure, password-protected online gallery, for you to download and share.

12. I am freaking out, how do I calm my nerves?

    Remember, this experience is all about you! I am here to make sure you have a meaningful, uplifting, and empowering experience from the moment you walk into the studio.  My goal is not to discourage nerves; it’s to help you channel them into the right energy for your shoot. 
    
    We will work together to inspire and capture your essence through a variety of poses and emotions. I will both coach you and demonstrate to you exactly what I’m looking for. We will play great music and get just the right vibe. I’ll teach you a few posing techniques that will enable you to breathe and relax. It will be a total “spa day” for your soul.  And, best of all, I’ll show you sneak peeks during your shoot so you can check out how incredible you really look.

13. How many outfits should I bring?

    I recommend a minimum of 3 outfits complete with matching underwear, jewelry, and at least one pair of high heeled or shoes. Keep in mind that you may want to take advantage of the Boudoir client closet options, but it’s always best to have a few solid pieces you already know fit you perfectly.  You can see many wardrobe options in the Full Exposure Facebook Group’s “Wardrobe Wednesdays.”

14. When are your studio sessions?

    We typically shoot on Thursdays and Fridays from 8.30 til about 12.30pm. If those days don’t work, we do offer one weekend a month, but the session fee is double.
    A typical shoot day looks like this:

    1. 8.30 -8.40AM - Arrive at studio - makeup artist sets up & we hang up your wardrobe

    2. 8.45-10AM - Hair & Makeup time

    3. 10AM - 12.30PM - Photoshoot time

    4. Two weeks later… Viewing & Ordering session (weekday appointments, average 1 hour)

15. Where is your studio located?

    Lins Photo Studio is at a private location in West Broward, Florida near Cooper City. The studio features a romantically decorated boudoir bedroom set, surrounded by a classic vanity and velvet navy sofa that complements all skin tones. We also offer a ‘red-brick’ room that has more of a dark and moody vibe. The French-Victorian bedroom set overlooks a private garden surrounded by a vast landscape of trees, a well-spring pond and a bohemian-styled cottage.
